I whipped up some trousers from the new Wearing History reproduction pattern* “Smooth Sailing” recently! I love how they fit, even though I had to fiddle with the cutting a bit to accommodate my proportionately larger hips/seat. The pattern was an utter dream to work with–Lauren did an excellent job on the instructions for this one! I used a blue cotton twill I had in the stash. Now the weather just needs to cool down so I can wear these… (I posted more on my blog, if you’re interested!)
* I hope posting this pattern is okay–I know it’s not a truly vintage pattern, but I know Lauren uses her extensive collection of actual vintage patterns as a jumping off point. If it’s not appropriate for this blog, let me know and I’ll remove the post!

Posting vintage repro’s is absolutely allowed, and these look great! I had these in my etsy cart YESTERDAY, haha. I definitely will be purchasing. Yours are so cute and flattering!
Angie, Whew… Wasn’t sure if they were or not!

I’m glad vintage repros are ok – especially trousers, as vintage patterns for those are nearly impossible to find!
These turned out beautifully Casey! Now I’m a bit hesitant to post the ones I just made from a Simplicity repro, they are not nearly as flattering nor as authentic looking. What a great pattern, and the matching belt is such a lovely touch.
B, Thank you!
You really should post your Simplicity ones–I think I have the pattern you made. I know I’d love to see it!!!

You’re a silly woman.
Post those trousers! I can’t seem to get anything to turn out right lately, so I don’t have anything new to post!
also…vintage trousers ARE hard to find (or too expensive). A secret weapon of mine is pj patterns. They are still relatively easy to find in my size and the pants are JUST like vintage trousers…right down to the fitted waistband, pleats, etc. Also, don’t discount the occasional short or romper pattern you run across. It’s pretty easy to lengthen the leg!
