I woke up Sunday morning and decided I had to sew myself a circle skirt. It’d been on my list for a long time (around five years!), and it always just was one of those “easy” projects I never got to. Armed with a 1954 needlecraft booklet (it was too early to try and do the math. lol.) and some heavy cotton from Ikea, I whipped this up pretty quickly. Except for when I decided I wanted to hem the skirt by hand–bad idea! lol.
The construction was fairly straight-forward. There is a zipper set in a slash at the center back and a narrow waistband backed with a bit of belting (grosgrain) to reduce bulk. I also added a couple of patch pockets trimmed with mini-bobble trim to make the skirt super functional. The only thing missing is a really poufy petticoat–I got rid of the one super-full net petticoat I owned a couple years ago. Looks like it’s time to think about replacing that!

This fabric is lovely and makes a very pretty skirt. 🙂
The fabric is PERFECT. Beautiful skirt!
